The short answer
The Qudelix-5K is not sold on Amazon.ca. We searched the Canadian store twice on September 17, 2026 and the only matches were third-party accessories — a desk mount and an OTG cable — not the DAC/amp itself. If you want a 5K in Canada you buy it direct from Qudelix's own store in US dollars and pay the border costs yourself, or you buy a Bluetooth DAC that Amazon.ca does stock and skip the import.
1. What the 5K costs direct, and what the border adds
Qudelix's own store listed the Qudelix-5K at USD 109.00 on September 17, 2026, with a storefront free-shipping threshold of USD 229, and the store states plainly that "import duties, taxes, and customs fees are not included in the product price or shipping cost" and are the customer's responsibility.
Converted at the Bank of Canada noon rate for September 16, 2026 (USD 1 = CAD 1.3947) that is CAD 152.02 before anything happens at the border. Canadian mail rules then add GST or HST on the full value plus, for a taxable postal item, the Canada Post handling fee of CAD 9.95 per parcel:
| Scenario | Item in CAD | Tax | Handling | Landed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alberta (5% GST) | CAD 152.02 | CAD 7.60 | CAD 9.95 | CAD 169.57 |
| Ontario (13% HST) | CAD 152.02 | CAD 19.76 | CAD 9.95 | CAD 181.73 |
Two things follow. The handling fee is small next to the tax at this value, so splitting an order rarely helps. And if the parcel arrives by courier rather than post, brokerage replaces the flat fee and can cost more — courier brokerage is not published per shipment, so we cannot quote it.
Currency warning, and this one has bitten us. A US storefront quotes USD; your card converts at its own rate on the day, and the storefront may also show a converted local figure that is not what you are charged. Do the comparison once, in USD, then convert. Comparing a storefront's CAD display against a USD price double-counts the conversion by roughly 42%.
2. What the 5K is, on paper
Our product record lists the Qudelix-5K as a dual ES9218P Bluetooth DAC/amp with Bluetooth 5.0 (LDAC, aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, AAC, SBC), 3.5 mm single-ended and 2.5 mm balanced outputs, PCM up to 384 kHz/32-bit, DSD256 and a 500 mAh battery quoted around 10 hours. We have not re-verified those figures against Qudelix's current specification page, and this page makes no claims about how it sounds — the reason to want a 5K is its feature set and its parametric EQ app, not something we can measure here.
3. What Amazon.ca does stock, at verified prices
| Alternative | Price checked 2026-09-17 | Seller shown | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| FiiO BTR13 | CAD 119.15 | third-party listing | Bluetooth receiver/amp, LDAC and aptX Adaptive |
| FiiO BTR7 | CAD 179.30 | Amazon US | Higher-tier FiiO Bluetooth DAC/amp |
| iFi GO blu | CAD 199.00 | Amazon US | Bluetooth DAC/amp with 4.4 mm and 3.5 mm outputs |
| Fosi Audio MD3 | CAD 209.99 | third-party listing | Newer portable DAC/amp with a magnetic mount |
| HiBy FC4 | CAD 67.00 | third-party listing | Wired USB dongle only — no Bluetooth, listed for contrast |
Nothing on that list is a like-for-like 5K replacement and we are not going to pretend it is. The honest summary: the closest Canadian-stocked equivalents sit at CAD 119–199, in the same range as the 5K's landed direct price in most provinces.
4. The listing to avoid
While checking Amazon.ca for this page we found a listing titled "BTR15" at CAD 165.44 whose brand field reads Suapouen and whose seller is fei99Long4. That is not FiiO, and FiiO's BTR15 is not offered by FiiO on Amazon.ca at the time of writing. The lesson generalises to every Bluetooth DAC you buy there: read the brand field and the seller line before the price, because a correct-looking title is the cheapest thing to fake.
5. Buying direct: what to confirm before you pay
- Currency of the charge. The store prices in USD. Your card converts at its own rate on the day; the charge is the USD amount.
- What happens if it fails. A direct order has no Canadian returns path — a warranty claim means shipping the unit back across the border at your cost, and the timeline is unknown to us.
- How it arrives. By post, the CAD 9.95 handling fee applies to a taxable parcel; by courier, brokerage applies and is not published per shipment.
- Which output you need. The 5K has 3.5 mm single-ended and 2.5 mm balanced. Planning to use the balanced output means budgeting for a 2.5 mm-terminated cable as well.
- Whether the app runs on your phone. The companion app is part of the product's value and not something we can check for you.
6. Is Bluetooth worth the premium at all?
If you already own a wired dongle, the honest difference is not audio quality — we make no claims there — but cable freedom. A Bluetooth amp clips to a shirt or pocket and takes the phone out of the equation, at the cost of a battery to charge and one more device to lose. If your phone and earphones already connect happily by cable, a CAD 21.99 dongle does the same job of getting audio out of a phone, and the CAD 120–200 you would spend here buys a shorter cable rather than a different experience.

The wired alternative: FiiO KA11 — CAD 21.99
If you do not need untethered use, this is the cheapest verified way to get audio out of a phone. No Bluetooth, no battery, no border event.

Another wired option: iFi GO link — CAD 95.82
A USB-C dongle with an ESS chip and MQA support, sold on a Canadian product page (fulfilled from the US). No Bluetooth.

Read our Qudelix-5K record7. What we could not verify
- Whether Qudelix ships to Canada by post or courier only, and whether it collects Canadian tax at checkout.
- Courier brokerage charges, which are not published per shipment.
- The 5K's specifications as they stand today — our record has not been re-checked against Qudelix's current product page.
- Whether the Amazon.ca alternatives listed above will still be in stock at these prices when you read this.
- Anything about how any of these units sound. We have not measured them and this page carries no listening notes.
