Buying in Canada / Budget IEMs

Best IEM Under CAD 30 in Canada (2026): Hola vs Gate

The Truthear Hola is discontinued and no longer listed on Amazon.ca. Its replacement is in stock at CAD 30.99. Here is the verified shortlist under CAD 35, and the honest answer on what is no longer buyable here.

Updated · Prices and stock checked September 17, 2026

The short answer

This is no longer a two-way choice. The Truthear Hola is discontinued and we could not find it listed on Amazon.ca at all on September 17, 2026. Its documented replacement, the Truthear Gate, is in stock on Amazon.ca at CAD 30.99. If your budget is a hard CAD 30, the Gate is the one of the pair you can actually order in Canada today.

1. The Hola is gone — what that means for buyers

The Hola was the reference answer to "cheapest IEM worth owning" for several years. It is no longer produced: enthusiast coverage dating back to 2024, including the thread that introduced its successor, describes the Hola as discontinued, and third-party coverage of the Gate consistently calls the newer model the Hola's replacement. The manufacturer's own listing for the Gate says its cavity design was "fine-tuned based on HOLA", which is as close to confirmation as a product page gets.

On the retail side the picture is consistent: our searches on Amazon.ca turned up no Hola listing, and the Linsoul product URL we have on file for the Hola returns a 404. We list the model on our own catalogue page because people still search for it, but we do not have a verified Canadian price to show you — because there is not one.

Practically, that leaves three options: buy the Gate, buy a different current model at the same money, or buy a second-hand Hola knowing there is no warranty path and no reliable price benchmark. Any guide that still ranks the Hola as a current purchase is working from stale data.

2. The Gate: what we verified

Three Amazon.ca listings for the Gate were live on September 17, 2026, all sold by LEAUDIO, all in stock, with the brand field reading TRUTHEAR:

Published specifications, from Truthear's own product page and the spec sheet reproduced in mainstream review coverage — not our measurements:

  • Driver: 10 mm dynamic, N52 magnet double-cavity internal magnetic circuit
  • Diaphragm: carbon LCP dome composite with an ultra-thin PU base
  • Impedance: 28Ω ±15% at 1 kHz
  • Sensitivity: 122 dB/Vrms at 1 kHz
  • Total harmonic distortion: ≤1% at 1 kHz (94 dB)
  • Cable: oxygen-free copper, 2-pin twisted pair, 0.78 mm 2-pin into a recessed socket, 3.5 mm plug (the listing for B0D5R334SH describes an interchangeable 3.5 mm cable)

Truthear's own store lists the Gate at USD 21.99. The Amazon.ca figure is what a Canadian buyer actually pays without a border event, which is why it is the number this guide uses.

Below CAD 30 the honest answer is thin. Prices in this tier move by a few dollars in both directions and stock is thinner than the price suggests, so the list above is a snapshot, not a promise. Anything under CAD 25 that we could verify is a cable or an adapter, not an in-ear monitor.

4. The pair on paper

No side-by-side listening comparison is possible here: one of the two models is out of production and the other replaced it, and we do not publish sound impressions in any case. What can be compared is what the two products are on paper.

Community write-ups of the original Hola describe a resin shell with a metal faceplate and a much-praised stock cable; the Gate's own material describes a lighter polymer cavity with a transparent faceplate and a redesigned cavity. Those are descriptions of construction, not of sound, and we are not going to convert one into the other.

5. Buying at this price without regrets

  • Check the mic variant. The Gate listings differ by colour and by whether a microphone is included; a no-mic variant will not work for calls.
  • Read the brand field, not the title. Budget audio is where counterfeit listings concentrate. On the Gate listings it reads TRUTHEAR and the seller is LEAUDIO, which is what we required before recommending it.
  • Decide on detachable cables now. Both the Gate and the Chu II use a 0.78 mm 2-pin connection, so a replacement cable is a CAD 10–20 decision later, not a reason to replace the earphones.
  • Do not chase the discontinued model. A used Hola is a used product with no warranty path; the price gap to a new, current model is small.
  • Budget for tips. Neither the Gate nor the Chu II includes a large tip selection, and fit decides most of what you hear.

6. What we could not verify

  • The Hola's original Canadian pricing, and whether any Canadian seller still holds new old stock.
  • Any measured specification for the Hola — the numbers quoted in this guide are the Gate's, from the manufacturer and period review coverage.
  • How either model sounds. We have not measured or listened to them, and this page states no preference.
  • Whether LEAUDIO's stock and the CAD 30.99 price will hold; both are dated snapshots.
  • Whether the Gate's microphone variant performs acceptably — we verified the variant exists, nothing more.
